Handle with Care (HWC) is a Canadian, evidence-based program for parents, caregivers, and educators of young children. It promotes positive mental health and well-being using hands-on interactive activities and discussion.

The Child Development Centre is the hub for the program in Yukon.

Fun and Interactive

HWC helps parents and caregivers to promote the positive mental health of children using hands-on, engaging activities, such as, stories, crafts, discussions, videos, and games.

Strengths-Based Approach

Every parent and caregiver wants what is best for their child. HWC is a culturally sensitive program that supports parents and caregivers own strengths, resources, and problem-solving skills.

Flexible

Parents and caregivers can choose to take this program in a group or one-to-one with a trained facilitator. HWC can be adapted to the needs of individuals, groups or communities.

Evidence-Based

HWC has been researched across Canada - including right here in Yukon! Many of our communities played a role in the creation and evaluation of the program and activities.

WHAT PARENTS ACROSS CANADA ARE SAYING...

“We have more of a positive relationship. I’m a single parent so it was really stressful dealing with everything on my own. And I wasn’t taking enough time to take care of myself, and me and my little two year old didn’t really get along that well. But now we get along great.”
